There are many people came over from foreign country to U.S even the food culture too. If you have a frozen food every one can make speedy and tasty food. Of course each one sense of values are different for each origin.
History of Japanese food.
The 1400BC-400BC the people doing food boiled, grilled. The tea and special foods are came to china Buddhism. This special foods are Buddhist cuisine. At the same time the Buddhism teach the don’t eat the animal (like cow, pig).
Heian period 794-1185 Japan got a lot of influence a lot to china. Karaage (soy-flavored chicken) and Natto (stick been) is coming out. Muromachi period 1336-1573 people made a food manners a lot and get use to it. This time Castella is coming out to the westerners people. Edo period People are eating lot of flavor Tempura, Soba, Sushi. This time sugar is just came out and people is making a lot of sweets too.
How about Japanese people eats. We usually eat lice or bread a lot. Usually we eat the Japanese foods are Sushi (We don’t eat California Roll so much) Sashimi (fresh row seafood made by fish) Soba (Japanese Noodles) Tempura (deep fried battered meat seafood vegetable) Omurice (omelette + rice) Hayashi rice (western style dish)
What the characteristics of Japanese food? First the usually Japanese foods are low fat and salty. Normally we are using lice, grain, vegetable, been, fruit, fish, seaweed, chicken. Specially we are good to processing seaweed and soybean. Normally we eat raw fish and seaweed. The processing soybean is the most characteristic of Japanese food. We are not development at meat and dairy product so much yet. For flavor basic we use the stock , salt , soy sauce , soybean paste (which fermentation the soy been) sake, vinegar. To sweet use the Mizuame (water candy) , Mirin (rice wine) now these days we use the sugar too. A little bit of Canola oil, Sesami oil and don’t use the lard so much. The point is Japanese foods are use the water a lot.
How to set the table
Normally we put the lice, miso soup and something. 3 dish (One main dish and two side dish). People it what ever they wont eat first. But normally first eat pickled vegetables with rice then take the miso soup. Tea-ceremony dishes (la carte dish) are bring the one topic for each turn. It’s not like course.
